PADI Open Water Certification

The Open Water Diver course is for those interested in recreational scuba diving. The course content covers all the basic dive skills and information needed to safely visit the underwater world, it also serves as a prerequisite to more advanced levels of training. There are three parts to the training; knowledge development (online and classroom sessions), pool skills development, and four open water dives. MSD offers the PADI Open Water Diver Course as an integrated training program, combining all aspects of the course into one easy to understand process and price. Online and Classoom Sessions

After you receive your link to PADI's online "eLearning" course (issued via email from PADI), you will start up an account with PADI and begin your journey to certification. The online course will lead you through a series of five presentations. After each of the first four, you will take a short quiz. The fifth presentation is followed up by a final exam (no quiz). Each of these quizzes and final exam must be completed successfully before the program lets you move on. If you have any difficulty with the quizzes, it is very easy to go back and review the content before attempting the quiz/test again.
Although PADI made instruction of the dive tables (Recreational Dive Planner -"RDP") optional a few years back, we require you to complete that section online also... we still feel it is very important to have a general understanding of how nitrogen absorption and elimination affects the amount of dive time available to you (so you aren't just blindly following your dive computer).
On the Saturday morning of your classroom and pool weekend, you will meet in the classroom for a four hour session with your scuba instructor. You and your instructor will review your online activities. Your instructor will explain any topics that you may have had difficulties with during your online training. We feel that nothing can convey real world insight better... than having a living, breathing instructor available in the classroom to answer your questions. Your instructor will also provide more specific information about our local dive environment, as well as highlight some popular warm-water destinations.
